One partner. Every stage.

Installation is one stage of six. As Principal Contractor we take accountability for all of them, so your programme has one point of contact and one line of responsibility.

For councils, housing providers and energy companies planning or funding a home energy improvement programme.

  1. Find
  2. Engage
  3. Assess
  4. Design
  5. Deliver
  6. Assure

The six stages

  1. Find

    Identify appropriate households.

Data-led targeting, Help4Homes referrals and client stock data, combined into a pipeline that stands up to scrutiny.

  2. Engage

    Build trust and support residents.

Advisers who explain what is on offer, what it means and what happens next, in plain language, at the household's pace.

  3. Assess

    Understand the property and household.

Retrofit assessment and household needs captured once, so nothing is asked twice and nothing gets missed.

  4. Design

    Develop appropriate compliant solutions.

Whole-house design under PAS 2035, coordinated by us, with the measures chosen for the property rather than the grant.

  5. Deliver Installation

    Coordinate trusted regional installation capacity.

Our managed delivery network installs to a single standard, under our commercial control and programme governance.

  6. Assure

    Manage quality, compliance and handover.

Independent quality checks, compliant lodgement, resident sign-off and the reporting your funder needs.

PAS 2035: the UK standard for whole-house retrofit: assessing the home and choosing measures that work together. Lodgement: registering completed work with the scheme so it counts.

What Principal Contractor means for your programme

A Principal Contractor is the organisation responsible for planning, managing and coordinating the work, including safety on site. On your programme that role is ours, and the installers in our managed delivery network work under our commercial control and programme governance.

Questions from programme partners

Which funding routes do you work with?

We deliver Local Grant and Social Housing Fund programmes as Principal Contractor. We run Help4Homes through the Warm Home Discount Industry Initiatives route, which is support funded by energy suppliers under the Warm Home Discount scheme. Our Retrofit Schemes service manages compliance delivery on obligated schemes, and our management team brings experience across ECO (the Energy Company Obligation) and GBIS (the Great British Insulation Scheme).

Who is responsible on site?

We are. As Principal Contractor we plan, manage and coordinate the work, including safety on site. The installers in our managed delivery network work under our commercial control.

How do you find and engage households?

We combine data-led targeting, Help4Homes referrals and your stock data into one pipeline. Our advisers then talk each household through what is on offer and what it would mean for them, before anything is agreed.

How do you report progress?

At the close of a programme, the Assure stage delivers independent quality checks, resident sign-off and the reporting your funder needs.

During the programme, our meeting and reporting commitments are listed under What partners can expect above.

Do you work with residents directly?

Yes, through Help4Homes. Help4Homes is our multi-supplier funded national scheme, delivering energy-saving advice and measures to households in fuel poverty. We operate and run the scheme, which is endorsed by Ofgem and funded by energy suppliers.

Residents can find out what support may be available on the Help4Homes page.
